Ecurie Ecosse returns to full-time racing

SIXTY YEARS AFTER it was formed, Scotland’s legendary motorsport team, Ecurie Ecosse, will take a major step towards returning to the Le Mans 24 Hours by contesting two championships this season, writes Jim McGill.

The decision by the Edinburgh-based team, which famously won the world’s most gruelling 24-hours race at La Sarthe with its Jaguars in 1956 and ’57, signals its full-time return to motorsport.

Hot Hatch Car Trackday – Sunday 26th February

This Sunday (26th February) is a Hot Hatch Car Trackday from 10am – 4pm. Gates and registration open from 9am. Track time only £55 in advance or £65 on the day. Spectator tickets £6 in advance or £8 at the gate.

During the lunch break 12.30pm – 1.30pm we will be running a FREE Drag and Drift competition. The winner of each will receive a ticket to Modified Live on Sunday 10th June.

Tune in to STV’s Weatherwatch tonight at 8pm and see weatherman Sean Batty tackle Knockhill’s Skid Pan.

Sean is hosting a series about Scotland’s weather and is doing a feature on winter driving at our unique venue. He is put through he paces by driving expert Alan Gordon and learns how to control a car when driving on black ice.

Colin McRae inducted into Hall of Fame

WORLD RALLYING’S MOST iconic figure, Colin McRae, has been honoured in a glittering ceremony in London by being inducted into the Motor Sport Hall of Fame, writes Jim McGill.

The Lanark-born Scot, whose swashbuckling style of inch-perfect driving memorably took him to the 1995 World Rally Championship, remains a world figure more than four years after he died in a helicopter crash near his home. The tragedy also claimed the life of his five-year-old son, Johnny.

Knockhill Motor Sports Club – Bike Racing Members meeting Sunday 18^th March at 4.30pm

The KMSC are inviting all their Bike Racing Members to a meeting on Sunday 18^th March in the Clubhouse at 4.30pm. This will start after the Bike Testing which we are running from 10am. We will be advising the members of what the plans are for the season ahead and also asking for any feedback and ideas you may have. We would love to see as many of our members come along to chat to us. Tea & Coffee will be supplied!

Great news! We are delighted to announce that all of the KMSC Bike Meetings will be televised on Motors TV again this season. Also, after member feedback, we are investing in supplying power for competitors at all of the events.

The entry fees have been set for 2012. They are as follows:

Scottish Championship Races

1 day event with 2 races – £160

1 day event with 3 races – £180

2 day event with 5 races – £225

Non Scottish Championship Races

1 day event with 2 races – £150

1 day event with 3 races – £170

2 day event with 5 races – £215

F125 Riders

1 day event- £125

2 day event – £150

The F125 races will now race on their own and not with the Classics. Also, Niall MacKenzie is offering a Junior Academy Evening on Tuesday 1^st May for only £25pp. This evening will be training for all Juniors who have raced for 2 or less years.

Car Testing – Sunday 19th Feb 12pm – 4pm
